A place to grow

We are Wiston Lodge.

Today, Wiston Lodge is a vibrant outdoor learning and events centre set within a beautiful historic estate. As a registered charity, we are dedicated to creating safe, inspiring and inclusive experiences for children, young people and adults.

Wiston Lodge dates back to the 1850s, originally built as a private hunting lodge by the Ferguson family, who made their wealth through Scottish coal mining. Over the years it has been shaped by influential owners, served as a wartime evacuee home, and later became a YMCA retreat centre.

Today, it is a charitable outdoor learning centre where history, nature, and community come together to create meaningful experiences for all who visit.

Our Values

A world where everyone has the opportunity to grow, thrive, and build a positive future.

To provide a safe, inspiring rural environment where people can connect with nature, develop new skills, build confidence, and reach their full potential.

We create opportunities for children, young people, adults, and communities to learn, grow, and connect through outdoor adventure, nature, creativity, and shared experiences.

We believe in creating welcoming and inclusive experiences where everyone has the opportunity to grow. Through nature, adventure, creativity, and community, we inspire confidence, resilience, and lifelong learning while building strong partnerships, supporting volunteers, and caring for our environment for future generations.
